Google Changes it’s Logo…by a pixel

When it comes to marketing strategy, the importance of the logo cannot be understated. As we have discussed previously on this blog, a logo is a critical component of branding that deserves careful consideration. Many design options exist, but ultimately it is up to the company to decide which style is right for their business.
It was recently reported that Google made a change to its logo that was so small it was hard to notice. According to an article in Business Insider, Reddit noticed that Google had tweaked its logo to move the “g” and the “l” slightly. The article cited the reason for the change was that the logo was off by a pixel.
While this change may be small enough for most people not to notice it, it underscores the importance of having a great company logo, and the lengths to which some companies will go to make sure it is as well-designed as possible. Since your logo will appear in many places, from the company website to marketing materials, taking the time to make it great is a worthwhile endeavor.
Whether the logo is a symbol or a company name, your audience will be connecting it with your brand, so it needs to be clearly designed, incorporating concepts of your brand that are easy to understand. It’s a good idea to aim to design a logo that is simple, yet memorable, and appeals to your target audience.
Even major brands are susceptible to branding blunders. If you have a logo that has been working well, but are considering a rebranding effort, be sure to exercise caution when trying out a new logo design or concept.
