eBay to begin ambitious worldwide marketing campaign

With the right approach, an innovative marketing campaign has the ability to recharge even a familiar, established brand. One internet mainstay, eBay, is looking to do just that with its new “Shop the World” initiative. According to AdAge, this global campaign, the first of its kind, will promote the idea of “anything” being available online through the service.
While it’s not entirely clear based on a new video promo exactly how this service will work, the commercial encourages the idea of everything being shoppable. Famous video clips of pop culture icons like Godzilla, Judy Garland and Jimi Hendrix appear juxtaposed against videos of site users repurposing famous items.
AdAge features comments from an eBay spokeswoman, who describes the ways this campaign would expand the traditional scope of eBay to include new definitions of what it can do for different markets.
“As our brand evolves, we’re constantly looking for new ways to inspire and engage our buyers and sellers around the world,” she said. “We have recently engaged Goodby Silverstein and Partners and Mediacom as one of our agency partners to help us explore how to continue telling the story of eBay.”
The official campaign launch date is scheduled for October 13, and it encompasses the United States, Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom. The Associated Press states that there will be potential additions to the market in the coming year.
A campaign automation system will help your business try to match this as a way to spread your influence out and redefine the areas in which you excel. It is important that any major marketing campaign like this gets off to a strong start and is designed to spread as far as possible.
