Millennials are a hot topic in marketing. Finding the most effective ways to connect with this significant audience is a priority for many marketers. As we have discussed previously, emotional connection can make for impactful campaign marketing. When it comes to marketing to Millennials, music can be powerful. Many kinds of brands have found ways to incorporate music into their marketing efforts. As Mashable discusses in a recent article, music has the power to connect people. “Music is used in advertising and marketing to help ensure these connections, whether it’s through the use of a particular artist, a set of lyrics, or a specific song structure that makes you actually feel something,” said Lori Feldman, EVP Brand Partnerships and Creative Synch Licensing at Warner Brother Records. For brands that seek to make a strong connection with Millennials, music is part of a successful equation. People come together over music, and it is able to send messages through lyrical content as well as by the way that it makes listeners feel. As Mashable points out, one place where brands take advantage of the power of music is at festivals, where thousands of music fans convene to see their favorite bands. This provides brands with an opportunity to reach Millennial audiences by aligning their brands with the music at the event. But that’s just one example of how brands can link up with music to connect with their audience. Apple, which has already established a strong connection with music through iPod and iTunes, recently acquired trendy headphone company Beats. The addition of this popular brand could help to further boost Apple’s appeal to audiences that are engaged with music. Whether it’s through music or some other means, brands that are able to make their audience feel something are likely hitting the mark with their campaigns. |
